Hub bearing

To move a load of 150kg on wheels fitted with plain bearings requires 50% more force than those fitted with ball bearings. The better the bearings, the lighter and easier the equipment will be to move.

So it’s not worth compromising on a castor’s bearings, especially if the equipment will be continually moved.

Although Manner wheels are available with plain, roller or ball bearings, our UK stockholding concentrates on the superior ball bearing.

Plain and roller bearings

Plain bearings are the simplest and most economical type of bearing. They revolve directly on the axle or the axle bush. Roller bearings have a needle which revolves on a steel axle bush.

Z, RS, 2RS bearings

Z ball bearings have a protective plate on one side and have a steel sealing. RS ball bearings have a rubber sealing on one side. 2RS ball bearings are rubber sealed on both sides and are maintenance free. All ball bearings are precision bearings for optimal performance levels.
